Express Entry

French skills can provide two notable advantages in your Express Entry application.

Points booster

Francophones and bilingual speakers receive additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.

Achieving NCLC 7 or higher in all four French language skills earns additional points.

  • CLB 4 or lower in English (or no English test): 25 extra points.

  • CLB 5 or higher in all four English skills: 50 extra points.

Category-based selection

French-language proficiency is one of the Categories chosen for 2023; it can possibly give some points advantages when be invited (the points might be significantly lower)

To be eligible, you must have French-language test results that show a minimum score of CLB 7 in all 4 language abilities.

Points booster

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is the province's economic immigration program. All streams operating through the OINP's Expression of Interest System award 10 points for proficiency in both official languages.

 

Streams included:

  • Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream

  • Employer Job Offer: International Student stream

  • Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills stream

  • Masters Graduate stream

  • PhD Graduate stream

French targeted stream

The French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream operates through the federal government's Express Entry System. To qualify, you must have an Express Entry profile and receive a notification of interest from Ontario.

NOTE: Eligibility requires proficiency in both English and French languages.

New Brunswick

New Brunswick

New Brunswick, as Canada's sole officially bilingual province, is dedicated to promoting the inclusion of French-speaking candidates within its provincial immigration programs. The government of New Brunswick has made a significant commitment, aiming to award 30% of all issued certificates to French-speaking individuals who possess the necessary skills, experience, and potential to successfully establish themselves in the province.

To specifically cater to French-speaking candidates, there is a specialized stream called the Strategic Initiative stream. Eligibility for this stream requires a minimum French proficiency level of CLB 5.

British Columbia's Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) encourages French speakers by allowing the use of French as the primary language in the application and granting an additional 10 bonus points to bilingual applicants.

Requirement:
CLB 4 or higher in each of the four french skills.
